2010 NFL Draft Round 1

The NFL has once again flexed their muscle and shown the sports world that they are the king of sports. Only the NFL would be able to pull off showing Round 1 of the draft during the same time that NBA and NHL playoff games were being played. As for the draft itself here are some my personal highlights:

*Picks 1-9 pretty much went as planned. Congratulations to Sam Bradford. I'm not a fan of taking a QB with the #1 pick, but the Rams needed to take Bradford. Congratulations to Oklahoma University. 3 out of the first 4 picks came from OU. Also, Congratulation to the Oakland Raiders. Finally they made a pick in the first round that actually makes sense. It makes me think "Is Al Davis still calling the shots?"

*The first big surprise came with the #10 pick, by the Jag's. Tyson Alualu out of Cal....really! I don't think any of the experts had this guy in the top 20. If the Jags liked the guy so much they should of pulled off a trade and moved back. I'm sure Alualu would of still been on the board.

*The fireworks really started flying with the Broncos pulling off trade after trade. I don't think anybody expected the end result to be Tim Tebow going to Denver. I'm rooting for Tebow to prove everybody wrong.

*The other move that surprised me a little was the Cowboys moving up to get Dez Bryant. If this guy has success the Cowboys are going to have a good receiving group for many years to come. Could Bryant, Colie and Witten be the next Irvin, Harper, Novaceck?

Congratulations to all the 1st round picks. The dream of 32 men became a reality yesterday. I hope they all take advantage of their opportunity because it is rare when somebody gets to do what they truly love as a career.
